  • HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Final Day

    July 28th, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday and the last day of the week of pictures!

Since it is my birthday I thought it only fitting to have a picture of Robert wearing a dessert. This was taken in June 2007 as part of a Tiswas program. Robert has long been a fan of Tiswas and was pied on the show back in 1981.

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 7

    July 27th, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the last two days of the HiBob’s birthday week and only two more bits of randomness to enjoy.

Here’s another recent “dressy” photo. No matter how severely Robert ties the hair back, it always seems to escape. The photo was taken at a Wolves game and it looks like he’s giving the management upper echelon a few pointers.

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 6

    July 26th, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday week and you know what that means. EIGHT days of random photos to enjoy.

This photo was taken while making the “Please Read the Letter” video. I like it because of the fun and playful nature. The expression on Robert’s face says he’s having a good time, and he’s even gotten Alison to join in on his impromptu dancing routine.

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 5

    July 25th, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday week and you know what that means. EIGHT days of random photos for me to muse about.

July 4, 2007. I think this picture somehow captures some of that Roberty essence. Robert was rushing by, yet still took a moment to give Baptiste Lignel a shot. The slight blur gives the picture movement, as if Robert is already moving onto the next thing, even as the shutter clicks. And yet, there’s a twinkle in the eye and a flash of the dimple. Ever gracious while still moving forward.

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 4

    July 24th, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday week and you know what that means. Seven days of random photos that struck my fancy.

This is a picture of Robert and Fats Domino during the time they were making the tribute album. It’s fun to see pics of Robert chatting with musicians that he admires. You can usually tell he’s having a great time, and the person he’s talking to usually looks engaged as well. In this shot both Fats and Robert seem to be having a grand ol’ time!

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 3

    July 23rd, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday week and you know what that means. Seven days of random photos.

This one doesn’t need much explaining. I mean, look at that big smile! It’s one of those pictures you sort of smile back at before you remember it’s just a picture.

This one was taken at the CMT awards in 2008.

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 2

    July 22nd, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday week and you know what that means. A few days of random photos.

Hippy hippy shake! This photo is from Lexington, KY on July 18, 2008. I like those mid-swivel live shots. But I like this one particularly because that was exactly my vantage point at that moment. The photographer was standing about a foot to my left.

A lady sitting one row up and one seat over from me kept waving every time Robert would come to our side of the stage. Not a wild “woo hoo!” concert wave. Just a “Howdy, glad you could stop by” kind of wave. After about three times of this Robert must’ve noticed her and waved back in exactly the same way. It was a funny moment. Or maybe you had to be there. :D

    HiBob’s Birthday Week 2009–Day 1

    July 21st, 2009 by HiBob

It’s the HiBob’s birthday week and you know what that means. A few days of pics that struck my fancy recently.

This one is from Robert’s Investiture Ceremony and he has just gotten his CBE medal from Prince Charles. It’s always fun to see Robert in a suit. But this pic makes me smile because it looks like he’s giving the Prince a piece of his mind! Apparently they did discuss a few political issues during the exchange. You go, Robert!

    Morning Ride

    November 11th, 2008 by HiBob

Joseph Mehal took this picture of Robert enjoying a morning bike ride. Joseph says:

Took this picture of Robert Plant just after meeting him in Boulder CO on 7/21/08, the morning of his concert at Red Rocks with Alison Krauss (Raising Sand Tour). My Wife and I drove up to Boulder from Denver to go sightseeing (we were in from Georgia for the concert). My Wife stopped and asked him if he knew a good place to get breakfast…she had no clue who he was.

I think it’s cool that Robert can just blend in with his environment to such an extent that folks take him for a local and ask for recommendations. It’s probably restful for him as well.

    Game: Six Word Story

    November 2nd, 2008 by HiBob

In the book “Not Quite What I was Planning” by Larry Smith, a collection of concise, six word memoirs by various writers is presented. For example, singer-songwriter Adam Schlesinger writes, “We still don’t hear a single”. Since Smith magazine kicked off the premise in 2006, these six word stories are everywhere, and fun to do, too.

The game is this: write a six word story describing Robert Plant or his solo music. The story must be exactly six words and make sense. You may write more than one story, but each story must be independent. In other words, you can’t take a collection of six word sentences to make a larger story. The six words alone should evoke some sense of Robertness.

    I’ll start:

A man transcending all musical boundaries.
