Fixin’ to Die Blues Bukka White

    April 27th, 2009 by HiBob

Robert joined Justin Adams and Juldeh Camara at Womad Abu Dhabi on April 25, 2009. Here’s a great video of them doing a kickin’ version of “Fixin’ to Die Blues” by Bukka White. You’ll recognize parts of the song from “Funny in My Mind” from Dreamland. Robert works the harmonica!

    It’s That Time Again

    April 26th, 2009 by HiBob

The annual fundraising plea is up on the blog. I can’t state enough times that each and every penny that you folks donate to the website is greatly appreciated and is used only to cover the operating costs of ManicNirvana.com

Donors will be immortalized (at least for a year) on the Donors List. If you wish to remain anonymous with your donation, indicate that in the comments section and it will be listed as “Friend of ManicNirvana.com”.

If you don’t want to read and want to get right to the donating, here’s the button.

And again, thanks to all donors, past, present and future.

    Tuneful Tuesday: Louie, Louie

    April 14th, 2009 by HiBob

Tuneful Tuesday offers a random Robert track for your listening fulfillment.

Yesterday, April 13, marked the 46th anniversary of an iconic recording of the song Louie Louie. It has been recorded by hundreds and performed by thousands. But the definitive version is arguably the Kingsmen version recorded in 1963. The song was originally written and recorded in the 50s by Richard Berry. The song has baffled fans and detractors alike, with the actual lyrics being subject to interpretation. The song has inspired entire websites and full length books.

Robert Plant recorded the song for the Wayne’s World soundtrack and it appears on the Sixty Six to Timbuktu
retrospective. Robert puts his unique stamp on the song, and also handles the lead guitar duties.

Click the triangle to start the player, click again to stop it.

    Site Update: April 1, 2009

    April 1st, 2009 by HiBob

The April Photo is ready for captions.

The April desktop calendar is also ready. The square version works well on standard monitors. The oblong one is better suited for Apple displays on newer iMacs and powerbooks as well as cinema displays. Just save and install as you would any wallpaper. The calendars are available for a limited time so get them early! Enjoy.
