  • Monday Music: Let the Boogie Woogie Roll

    November 10th, 2008 by HiBob

Monday Music presents a random track for your listening pleasure.

Monday is a good day for an upbeat boogie woogie tune so here’s “Let the Boogie Woogie Roll”. Robert Plant delivers a classic boogie woogie performance with this fun tune.

This cut is from More Friends: Small World Big Band, Vol. 2 from Jools Holland. Released in December 2002 on Rhino, the album contains songs performed by artists who have appeared on “Later with Jools Holland”.

Robert also performed this live on Jools’ show in 2002.

Monday Music: House is not a Motel

    November 3rd, 2008 by HiBob

Monday Music features a random track for your listening enjoyment.

Today’s song is House is Not a Motel, originally performed by Arthur Lee and Love. This is one of my favorite tunes that Robert does live. He’s been performing it off and on since 1999 with Priory of Brion and throughout 2001 and 2002 with Strange Sensation. The most recent performance of House is Not a Motel was in 2005.

This track is from June 2001 at Roseland Ballroom in New York. I picked this one because it starts out with a funny bit as Robert is decidedly not happy with the sound system. It runs about 9 minutes. Martians anyone?

    Game: Six Word Story

    November 2nd, 2008 by HiBob

In the book “Not Quite What I was Planning” by Larry Smith, a collection of concise, six word memoirs by various writers is presented. For example, singer-songwriter Adam Schlesinger writes, “We still don’t hear a single”. Since Smith magazine kicked off the premise in 2006, these six word stories are everywhere, and fun to do, too.

The game is this: write a six word story describing Robert Plant or his solo music. The story must be exactly six words and make sense. You may write more than one story, but each story must be independent. In other words, you can’t take a collection of six word sentences to make a larger story. The six words alone should evoke some sense of Robertness.

    I’ll start:

A man transcending all musical boundaries.

    November 1st, 2008 by HiBob

The November Photo is ready for captions.

The November desktop calendar is also ready. The square version works well on standard monitors. The oblong one is better suited for Apple displays on newer iMacs and powerbooks as well as cinema displays. Just save and install as you would any wallpaper. The calendars are available for a limted time so get them early! Enjoy.
