According to Classic Rock Magazine, Robert Plant will join the Sound & Vision show at Abbey Road Studios on February 25, 2010. The show is to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Robert will be supported by Beth Nielson Chapman and the London Oriana Choir.
Robert commented: “Performing at Sound & Vision is something I’m really excited about. Cancer Research UK is a very worthwhile cause, and when Bob [Harris] asked me to get involved I didn’t hesitate. My set is quite different from anything I’ve ever done before, as I’ll be performing with Beth and a full choir on stage. Cancer is a disease that affects so many people and Sound & Vision is a great way to raise money to fight it.”
The only way to get tickets (and other items that will benefit the charity) is to bid via the Sound & Vision eBay auctions.

Geoff Lloyd and Ben Jones from Absolute Radio will be broadcasting live from this event. Geoff Lloyd’s Hometime show begins at 5pm (uk) and Ben Jones begins at 8pm (uk).

Robert Plant, along with Sir Alex Ferguson, David Frost, Roger Daltrey and other celebrities are giving their support to Killing Cancer which hopes to raise £50 million to fund trials into PDT. This treatment kills cancer cells with a combination of drugs and light.
Robert Plant commented: “It really is an injustice that this form of treatment is not available to everyone in the UK. I have friends currently receiving PDT, but only because we pushed to get it.”

Fiona Thompson of the Sunderland Echo reports that a fan was taken aback when Robert stopped by an annual summer fair to inquire about donating a guitar for an auction. Mick Hudspeth of County Durham says:
“He said he had a guitar he would like to donate and asked about what to do.
“He was a very nice bloke, very down to earth and quite laid back.
“He signed the guitar and had his photo taken with the volunteers, but said he was off to Nashville to record with Alison Krauss.”

According to the Birmingham Post, Robert Plant has donated a signed acoustic guitar to benefit the Worcester and District Branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society. The guitar will be auctioned at a fundraising dinner on June 19, 2009 and is expected to raise about £700.
Robin Hancox is the president of the Worcester PDS branch and also happens to live near Robert. He asked Robert about the possibility of a donation after bumping into him at a local shop. Robert delivered the guitar personally, signed it and sat for photos.
“We are incredibly grateful to have such a well-known local legend like Robert Plant donate such a unique prize to our cause,” Hancox stated.
Funds raised from the dinner will support local residents with Parkinson’s through groups in Droitwich, Evesham, Kidderminster and Worcester.

Statement from Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and T-Bone Burnett regarding their September 26, 2008 Benefit Concert:
When we saw the devastation that Ike had wreaked upon Houston and the Gulf Coast area, we immediately made the decision to turn our scheduled show in the area into a benefit for the victims of this disaster. When it was made clear to us that we wouldn’t be able to bring our show in, we immediately sought out an alternate city and venue to host the benefit so that badly needed funds could get into the proper hands as quickly as possible. To this end, we are grateful to the people of Oklahoma City for stepping up and contributing to this cause.
To the great people of Houston and the Gulf Coast, please know that you are in our thoughts as you continue to recover from all you’ve been through.
Sincerely,
Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and T Bone Burnett
