Robert Plant Gets Star in Memphis

Robert Plant was presented with a star to be placed on the Orpheum Theater Sidewalk of Stars on Beale Street in Memphis TN. In the presentation ceremony that took place on Monday, July 12, 2010, Robert was honored for his efforts to preserve blues music. During the ceremony Plant referenced pioneers like Sonny Boy Williamson and WC Handy. He acknowledged that many British musicians owe a debt to early blues artists.

Robert Plant answers Questions

Lindsey Millar writing for the Arkansas Times had a few questions for Robert Plant in advance of the upcoming Band of Joy show there. Robert talked about the album, the tour, and music in general. Robert commented on his “jumping around a lot stylistically”:

“Every dog has his day, and my day is a different color quite regularly. My plan is to stimulate, so that I can sing with true meaning. I can’t bluff it. To be a singer and just to repeat everything that he is and has been, I’d be a hell of a one trick pony, so I can’t do that.”

St David’s Hall, Cardiff on Tuesday 26th October 2010
Symphony Hall, Birmingham on Wednesday 27th October 2010
Palace Theatre, Manchester on Sunday 31st October 2010

Tickets go on sale starting July 9, 2010. You can get access for a presale by ordering Band Of Joy from HMV online by 8am on Monday, July 5, 2010.

Robert Plant to Perform at Charity Launch

Football legend Steve Bull will be launching the Steve Bull Foundation with a VIP launch party at Molineux. For the last five years Bull has been helping efforts to raise money for Promise Dreams, which is aimed at easing suffering for terminally ill children. His new foundation will provide grants to organization in the Black Country and West Midlands which aid the disabled, homeless, sick, disadvantaged and young people.

Robert Plant will perform a one-off gig a the launch party. Bull says he mentioned the idea to Robert and he agreed to do it. Bull commented he thinks Robert had hoped he’d forget about it, but Bull is holding him to his promise!
