Robert Plant and Alison Krauss I got to meet right before the Grammys and I got to stand in their presence and I didn’t really know what to say. He just talked about whether his leather jacket made him look gay.

The group Artists Against Windfarms reports that Robert Plant joined a peaceful protest at Nant-y-Moch Reservoir in Wales on June 20, 2009. The group, along with the Cambrian Mountains Society, is protesting a proposal to build 100 wind turbines. Protesters say that the turbines will destroy the natural peat bogs and spoil the natural beauty of the area. The site holds historical significance as well, being where Owain Glyndr won a victory in the 15th century to establish his claim as leader of the Welsh.
According to the Cambrian News, Plant attended the public meeting given by the developers, then joined the peaceful protesters. The Chairman of the Cambrian Mountains Society remarked, “We are very pleased to have people like that on board, and it is very important in getting us noticed on a larger scale.”

According to the Birmingham Post, Robert Plant has donated a signed acoustic guitar to benefit the Worcester and District Branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society. The guitar will be auctioned at a fundraising dinner on June 19, 2009 and is expected to raise about £700.
Robin Hancox is the president of the Worcester PDS branch and also happens to live near Robert. He asked Robert about the possibility of a donation after bumping into him at a local shop. Robert delivered the guitar personally, signed it and sat for photos.
“We are incredibly grateful to have such a well-known local legend like Robert Plant donate such a unique prize to our cause,” Hancox stated.
Funds raised from the dinner will support local residents with Parkinson’s through groups in Droitwich, Evesham, Kidderminster and Worcester.

The Colorado Daily’s Philip Armour profiled the upcoming Boulder, Colorado Vintage Bicycle shop, an event that Robert Plant looked in on last year during the tour stop at Red Rocks. Unfortunately, event founder Keith Murdock managed to bring Robert’s visit to a premature ending. Armour writes:
“Last year, (Led Zeppelin’s) Robert Plant came by pushing a new cruiser, looking and pointing at the bikes with a friend,” Murdock says. “I walked over and said, ‘Robert?’ to catch his attention. But he told me, ‘Shut up!’ sort of laughing, because he didn’t want a scene. Well, people came flocking, asking for autographs or whatever, so he took off. He was playing Red Rocks that night.”

50s Rocakabilly singer Glen Glenn toured Europe for the first time in 1987 and was astonished to find himself with a famous fan. In an interview with Daiana Feuer of L.A. Record he says:
So rockabilly took a snooze, then after 30 years working in a missile factory, you came back to music in the 80s?
It was really 1977. Rockabilly started coming back real heavy. But I didn’t go to Europe until 1987. Man, when I went to Europe, it was everywhere. I had never been over there, see. They sent me over and I played about five countries. And it was sold out. When I played in London, you’ve heard of Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin? He came to my show, and he’s heavy metal! That’s not my kind of music. And he came backstage and got an autograph from me. And I was like, ‘No kiddin’? You like my music? You’re heavy metal!’
