Raising Sand has been nominated in the Best Selling Album category for the Canadian Country Music Awards. The awards will be presented on September 8 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Raising Sand is on the shortlist for the Nationwide Mercury Prize for 2008. The shortlist is made up of 12 albums picked from over 240 entries. The overall will receives a £20,000 check.
The Nationwide Mercury Prize is designed to champion UK music by promiting 12 albums each year by British or Irish artists. All genres are eligible and are treated equally. The award is chosen based solely on the judges opinion and not on sales or music industry votes. The Mercury Prize is Europe’s premier arts award in terms of media and influence. The overall winner of the prize will be decided in September.
Jools Holland will be this year’s host for the awards show which will take place on September 9. The show will be broadcast on the BBC on September 9 and September 12.
